Traffic Case Records in Henry County
Venue turns on the issuing court, not the traffic stop. State citations assigned to Henry County District Court run through the Henry County Circuit Clerk, AlaPay, Online Traffic Resolution, and Suite J. District Court handles them too. Abbeville and Headland municipal citations stay with their own city custodians. Each city runs its own payment portal. Read the citation face first.
A Henry County traffic case record can include the charge, plea, and settings. It may also show filed requests, orders, disposition, costs, and payment. It is more than a receipt. It also stands apart from the broader criminal docket. Some payment systems still handle both traffic tickets and criminal fines. District Court takes state traffic matters. Circuit Court can receive an appeal on the route Alabama law permits. The official Henry County traffic page lays out the local options and the payable-offense chart.

That page tells you whether an offense is payable and what still needs handling before the court date.
State and City Henry County Tickets
Never pick a portal by where the stop happened. Read the court named on the ticket. A Henry County District Court citation goes to Suite J and the state tools. Abbeville city citations belong in Abbeville's authorized municipal search and payment system. Headland municipal citations belong with Headland Municipal Court at its Judicial Building.
A no-match can mean the citation sits with another custodian. It might also reflect a typo, a recent filing, a mandatory appearance, or restricted data. It never proves dismissal. When the court label is unclear, call the issuing agency. Then call the named court. Suite J can identify its own District Court case. It cannot speak for every municipal file.
Routing rule: Use the court printed on the citation, not the nearest courthouse or the portal that happens to appear first.
Henry County Traffic Ticket Lookups
Each channel does one job. AlaPay takes eligible payments. OTR receives certain requests for court review, while Just One Look supplies paid state-trial-court case details. The clerk confirms the Henry County District Court case, the current setting, copy procedure, and whether an unlisted charge requires appearance.
- Read the issuing agency, named court, citation number, charge, and printed court date.
- For Henry District Court, check the official traffic page and use AlaPay only when payment is available.
- Use Online Traffic Resolution for an eligible request, while treating the printed date as active until approval.
- Call the Circuit Clerk at (334) 585-2753 or visit Suite J when the citation does not post, the charge is unlisted, or the setting needs confirmation.
- Use (877) 252-7294 for phone card payment or the Traffic Service Center at (866) 954-9399 for state traffic help.
The state portals do not expose every current control. Use only the fields the official workflow supports.
| Citation or case information | Required to locate the matter; use the details printed on the ticket. |
|---|---|
| Payment card | Required for a phone or online payment; payment access is not a full docket search. |
| Supporting upload | Used for an OTR proof-based request when the live workflow calls for it; court approval remains required. |
| Contact details | Supply the items requested by the live workflow; exact current labels were not published. |
AlaPay and OTR Serve Different Tasks
AlaPay is the statewide ticket and fine payment portal. OTR is a request system, nothing more. Henry County lists OTR paths that may include defensive driving, more time to pay after a guilty plea, or submission of qualifying proof. Filing an application grants nothing by itself. The person must appear unless a court order approves the request or accepts the proof. The official AlaPay portal is the payment channel linked by both AOC and Henry County.

The portal can resolve eligible payments, but treat it as less than the complete Henry County traffic docket. The official Online Traffic Resolution service opens the request path.

An OTR screen only records a request for a judge's action. The docket must later show whether relief was granted.
Traffic Court Dates in Henry County
The printed citation supplies the first date. After that, inspect the newest case detail or court order, since a filing date is not a setting and a later order can displace an older one. Henry County posts no standalone official daily calendar, so call Suite J with the citation or case number for District Court confirmation.
| Citation identifier | Copy the full number printed on the ticket; no single local public format was published |
|---|---|
| Court | Henry County District Court or the municipal court named on the citation |
| Date and time | The printed appearance setting, subject to a later authorized order |
| Setting status | Check whether payment, appearance, trial, or another action remains due |
| Newest order | Controls an approved reset, resolution request, or other change |
| Location | Use the court’s official notice, not an assumed county venue |
On hearing day, courthouse postings and staff can confirm the location. Allow time for the metal detector. Free parking sits around the Henry County Courthouse.
OTR Approval and Henry County Dates
"Submitted" and "approved" are different docket states. Henry County warns that an OTR application alone does not cancel the printed court date. Keep proof of submission. Watch for the resulting order, and confirm the record if the date is close. If no approval appears, follow the active citation or court notice.
Multiple citations demand extra care. When any citation requires appearance, Henry County states the group cannot use OTR. All citations must be handled in court together. Defensive-driving relief also requires court approval. The applicant must hold a current non-CDL. The applicant must not have attended defensive driving for another traffic offense during the prior two years.
Note: Henry County lists Alabama Safe Driver as approved, but course completion has no effect until the court accepts the required certificate.
Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It
Some Henry County District Court tickets can be settled without a hearing. Sign the guilty plea on the citation. Send full payment, and the matter closes before your court date. Payment counts as a plea. Mail a cashier's check or money order to the District Court Clerk. Personal checks are not accepted. AlaPay and the phone card channel also work. A violation missing from the payable list means you must appear.
Want to fight it? Then keep the case on the court docket instead of paying. Follow the citation and the clerk's instructions for your plea and appearance date. Never send money while hoping the record will show a contest, because it will not.
| Paying | Contesting |
|---|---|
| Available only for a listed payable offense | Requires following the court’s plea and setting procedure |
| Uses signed citation and approved payment channel | Keeps the merits for the court to decide |
| May be online, by phone, by mail, or at the clerk channel | May require appearance based on the ticket or charge |
| Must be complete before the active deadline | Must honor the printed date unless an order changes it |
Failure to appear or dispose of the citation: Henry County warns of an arrest warrant, ALEA license suspension, a higher fine, and bond forfeiture.
Mandatory Henry County Traffic Appearances
The payable chart is not a promise. Some charges never qualify, and any unlisted violation requires appearance in person. A citation can also carry its own court direction that overrides the general payment page. When several tickets came from the same stop, Henry County wants all of them handled in court. This applies if even one requires it.
Call before mailing money if your charge wording does not match the official list. Have the full citation number ready and read the charge exactly. Staff can walk you through the clerk's procedure and current docket status. They cannot tell you which legal choice to make. One more caution: an online payment screen that does not return your ticket usually means the case is not payable online. It does not mean the case is missing.
Two Records: Court File and Driver File
Two different offices keep two different files. The Henry County Circuit Clerk, or a municipal clerk, holds the court case record for your citation. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency keeps the driver and license record separately. Searching or paying the court ticket is its own transaction. It never fetches the state-held driver record.
| Court case file | Driver file | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Henry Circuit Clerk or named municipal clerk | Alabama Law Enforcement Agency |
| Shows | Citation, plea, settings, orders, disposition, costs, and payment | State-maintained license history and status |
| Use | Understand the court matter and obtain filed records | Address the separate license record with ALEA |
| Request path | Court portal, phone, counter, or copy request | ALEA’s own record channel |
That split trips people up. An online court no-match tells you nothing about the state's separate file, and a state file cannot stand in for the court's orders.
Traffic Record Copy Fees
The official Henry chart lists ticket totals, not per-page copy charges for court records. The 2025 access rules cover viewing. You can view public electronic Circuit and District records at Suite J for free. Plain copies and certifications are priced under AOC authority. Henry County posts no amounts for them, so call for a quote and name the exact docket or order you need.
| Item | Amount or process | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Public electronic viewing | No charge | At the clerk office during regular hours |
| Plain traffic record copy | Call for current quote | Henry per-page amount not posted |
| Certified traffic record | Call for current quote | Original must be filed or recorded |
| Mail delivery | Requester pays postage | Advance payment may be required |
Got a municipal citation? Ask the city clerk directly, because the Henry County Circuit Clerk does not set that office's copy charge.
Henry County Payable Ticket Totals
Henry County publishes fine-and-cost totals for selected District Court offenses. Treat these as resolution amounts, not copy fees. Check the live chart before paying, since unlisted offenses require appearance and unpaid amounts can rise after the date.

Henry County Traffic Docket Scale
Traffic dominates the District Court docket in Henry County. The FY2022 AOC profile counted 6,209 District Court filings, and 71 percent were traffic. Applied to that total, traffic comes to roughly 4,408 filings, though that figure is an estimate rather than an exact category count. Across all case types, District Court disposed of 6,317 matters that same year.
Volume like that makes details matter. Give the clerk your citation number, the court name, and the newest order, especially for a fresh filing or a hearing date close at hand. For a deeper setting search, the Henry County court schedule process is the tool to use.
